Supervision & Consultation

Secondary stress is a reality for those working with children and young people who have experienced relational traumas and losses, as is blocked care. Dan Hughes describes this as the repeated painful experience of care being rejected, which leads to the adult’s care shutting down so as to avoid the painful experience. It is so important to find ways of keeping our minds and hearts open in order to help children on the journey to learned security.

Supervision offers a confidential reflective space for staff to explore any issues that may arise for them in their work with children and young people. Supervision is most useful as a relationship that can be developed through regular meetings.

The TouchBase team are also available for one-off consultations on any aspect of working with troubled children and young people.
