Therapy

SAI
We work in partnership with specialist Occupational Therapists who have had additional training in SAI.
Sensory Attachment Intervention (SAI) is an integrative approach for the treatment of children and adults who have suffered abuse or severe neglect. Negative experiences in the womb and in early childhood can impact one’s capacity to cope with stress throughout life. Children may develop behavioural strategies early on in order to survive their attachment environment. SAI recognises the need to target the areas of the brain that are the source of the dysfunction. The first requirement is to establish regulation of arousal states, then facilitating modulation of the body senses through just the right combination of up regulating and down regulating experiences. This in turn enables higher level sensory, emotional and cognitive functioning. Together we will assess and provide treatment packages as appropriate. Sometimes we may work using other therapies in parallel.
