Catherine Michell

Integrative Therapist

Catherine is an Integrative Child and Adolescent Therapist registered with the BACP and is available to work with 18-25 year olds here at TouchBase. Catherine has clinical experience of working with a wide range of issues, including working therapeutically with those who have experienced relational loss and developmental trauma. She is experienced in supporting trauma recovery.  She is trained in an integrative way and uses a range of methods and theories underpinned by science-backed research in her work, including the use of the creative arts if helpful.

Catherine works in an empathic way to foster a warm therapeutic relationship. This helps to  facilitate the healing journey which many of us need to go on, so that we can be the best versions of ourselves and can have healthy relationships with both ourselves and others. Catherine is passionate about working closely with young adults to chase away any fear, stress and shame, build up resilience, strengthen attachment, facilitate self awareness and ultimately recovery. She uses dyadic developmental practice as a way of being within her work. She is aware that insecurity does not need to be a life sentence, that it is possible to learn security. Catherine offers a hopeful perspective in all her work.

Catherine has experience of working in private practice, as a school based therapist and also as a freelance therapist for the Diocese of Chichester. Before that, in her first career, she practised as a lawyer.

Catherine understands the immigrant experience, having been born and raised in South Africa. Outside of her therapy work Catherine continues to have links with South Africa in her role as a trustee of the Garden Route Children’s Trust, a charity which funds nutritional school breakfasts for South African children, a role which she is passionate about.

Catherine is on our adult therapy team with a specialist interest in young adults aged 18-25. If interested in working with Catherine please contact info@touchbase.org.uk for more details.
