Cat Merrick

Community Engagement Co-ordinator

Cat is our Community Engagement Co-Ordinator in our Engine Room Team, overseeing and liaising with our existing groups as well as exploring the needs and interests of our community here in Brighton.

Cat has lived and volunteered on the Whitehawk estate for the past decade and has worked with children and young people on ventures including film-making, dance, drama and Kidz Klub. She has also run groups for parents and care-givers such as weekly baby and toddler mornings and helped with the parenting course Kids Matter.

She is invested in supporting children and young people, and facilitating groups in order to build trust, share experiences, encourage each other and learn new skills.

With a background in dance, drama and fitness and an MA in acting for screen, Cat believes these tools have helped her to learn the vital art of communication and support and loves the notion that sometimes we can best express how we feel in different ways such as play, movement and working together on shared projects.

She is delighted to be part of the team at Touchbase. If you are a parent or carer you will probably liaise with Cat about different support groups, clinics and workshops on offer! If you are aged between 16 and 25 you may also hear from her as we have some great opportunities on offer for you. Please always feel free to contact her if you would like to know more about what is going on presently in our community offering.
