Catherine Michell
Integrative Therapist
Catherine is an Integrative Child and Adolescent Therapist, both registered with the BACP and UKCP accredited and is available to work with adolescents and young adults here at TouchBase. Catherine has clinical experience of working with a wide range of issues, including working therapeutically with those who have experienced relational loss and developmental trauma. She is experienced in supporting trauma recovery. She is trained in an integrative way and uses a range of methods and theories underpinned by science-backed research in her work, including the use of the creative arts if helpful.
Catherine works in an empathic way to foster a warm therapeutic relationship, which then helps to facilitate the healing journey that many of us need to go on so that we can be the best versions of ourselves and can have healthy relationships with both ourselves and others. Catherine is passionate about working closely with adolescents and young adults to chase away any fear, stress and shame, building up resilience, strengthening attachment, facilitating self-awareness and ultimately recovery. She uses dyadic developmental practice as a way of being within her work. She is aware that insecurity does not need to be a life sentence, that it is possible to learn security. Catherine offers a hopeful perspective in all her work.
Catherine has previous experience of working within education, as well as in private practice and as a freelance therapist for the Diocese of Chichester. In her first career, Catherine practised as a lawyer.
Catherine understands the immigrant experience, having been born and raised in South Africa. Outside of her therapy work Catherine continues to have links with South Africa by being a trustee of the Garden Route Children’s Trust, which funds nutritional school breakfasts for South African children, a role which she is passionate about.
