Description
This is an education focussed DDP Level 1 training, thecourse objectives are as follows:
- Understand the DDP practice framework and how it can be brought into educational practice
- Explore and practice using the central components of DDP
- Understand the theoretical foundations to DDP
- Apply this to a therapeutic approach combined with teaching for children who have experienced developmental trauma
- Consider how the model can be helpful when talking to the parents or carers of the children
- Apply this framework to a regulatory and behaviour support approach which can help the children with their behaviour in school
The principles and interventions are presented through formal presentations, discussion, videotape of sessions, role-play, and handouts.
Duration – 5 days spread out over consecutive weeks
Delivered online by Dr Sian Phillips (Canada) – certified DDP therapist, consultant and international trainer.
Dr Sian Philips, Ph.D.,C.Psych. is a psychologist in private practice in Kingston. She received her Ph.D. from University of Toronto in 1996 and has been working with children and families in Kingston since that time. She specializes in the assessment of trauma and attachment difficulties and works with children, foster parents and adoptive parents using Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy ®©.
