Vanessa is a qualified therapist and registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). She recently completed the PGCert in Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Well-being Multidisciplinary Practice, which is accredited by the Association of Family Therapy and Systemic Practice.

For Vanessa, it is by talking about our experiences in a safe and non-judgemental way that we can grow to understand and accept ourselves, banishing shame and working with both our strengths and challenges to recover from relational trauma and loss.

Vanessa’s core training is psychodynamic, in that she believes that experiences we have in early childhood can have an impact on how we view ourselves and our relationships with others in ways that we may not always be aware of. Since her initial training, Vanessa’s work has become increasingly integrative, tailoring her work to suit the specific needs of the individuals in front of her, using creative techniques such as sandplay, art and mindfulness and grounding techniques. All her work is underpinned by attachment theory which is fundamental to our way of sensing both ourselves and others.

Having worked in schools for over a decade, Vanessa is well-placed to help children and young people, their carers and schools, to support trauma-responsive interventions both in school and at home. She offers DDP informed practice and our Seguridad intervention in order to support recovery from relational trauma and loss.

A trained forest school leader, Vanessa is passionate about supporting people to connect with the land so they can reap the therapeutic benefits of this. Vanessa will be supporting  sessions at Plot 22 soon.
